Campus iOS Profiles Setup for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad

Introduction

Configuration profiles are XML files that can contain device security policies and restrictions, VPN configuration information, Wi-Fi settings, email and calendar accounts, and authentication credentials that permit iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad to work with the University of Utah systems. We have the following profiles available for campus services like email, wireless and VPN.

  • Email - UMail (Download)
    This profile is for campus email which uses Microsoft Exchange and is branded on campus as "UMail". For more info about "UMail" see this web page.

  • UConnect (Download)
    This profile is for campus wireless and is branded on campus as "UConnect". For more info about "UConnect" see this web page.

  • VPN (Download)
    This profile for campus VPN service which doesn't have any branding that we know about. For more info about the VPN service see this web page.

    • This section contains information about troubleshooting setup of the iOS profiles.

Email, Calendaring & Contacts - Exchange

Step 1: Click here to download Exchange Configuration File to your device.

Step 2: Click on the bottom "Install"

Step 3: Click on "Install Now"

Step 4: Type in your email address. ("u0123456@utah.edu", i.e.) And click on Next.

Step 5: Enter your username("u0123456@umail.utah.edu", i.e.) and click on Next.

Step 6: Enter your password and click on Next.


Email - UMail

Step 1: Click here to download UMail Configuration File to your device.

Step 2: Click on the botton "Install"

Step 3: Click on "Install Now"

Step 4: Type in your name which you want to show on your sending Email and Click on Next.

Step 5: Type in your email address. ("u0123456@utah.edu", i.e.) And click on Next.

Step 6: Enter your uNID as username and click on Next.

Step 7: Enter your password and click on Next.


UConnect

Step 1: Click here to download UConnect Configuration File to your device.

Step 2: Click on the bottom "Install"

Step 3: Click on "Install Now"

Step 4: Enter your uNID as username and click on Next.

Step 5: Enter your password and click on Next.


VPN

Step 1: Click here to download VPN Configuration File to your device.

Step 2: Click on the bottom "Install"

Step 3: Click on "Install Now"

Step 4: Enter your uNID as username and click on Next.

Step 5: Enter your password and click on Next.


Troubleshooting

If you lost connection to Internet access when you setup this UMail or Exchange profiles, you will see this error message below. You can connect to Internet and try again. Or simply click on Skip.
