  • iDVD 4.0.1 requires write access to its tutorial files, kept in /Library/Application Support/iDVD/Tutorial. If write access is not given to the files in this directory, iDVD will tell you that an error occurred while loading the project because it is write-protected. Furthermore, if the tutorial folder is moved to another location, say to the user's desktop, it will not function when you open it in iDVD. It appears that there are hard-coded paths in the Tutorial files that require it to be in /Library/Application Support/iDVD in order to function. And if the Tutorial folder is removed from its original location, the "Open Tutorial" button on iDVD's startup screen disappears the next time you launch it.
  • Also, iDVD 4 requires write access to a QuickTime movie file inside the iDVD.app package. If write access is not given to the file, iDVD will tell you that it can't find iDVD.app/Contents/Resources/08_Kids_Theater_One.theme/Contents/Resources/ autoPlayMovieKidsTheater.NTSC.mov
  • No known workarounds. Since we do not want to give our users write access to restricted areas of the file system, we cannot currently give them access to the iDVD tutorial (in an educational lab...).
