Introduction

VMware Fusion & Server Overview - by Peter Kazanjy of VMware

Overview on VMware client & server products for Mac OS X including VMware Fusion and upcoming server support included with upcoming VMware Fusion 2.0 which is a free upgrade to all VMware Fusion 1.x customers.

VMware Fusion is a virtual machine software product for Mac OS X running on Apple computers with Intel processors. Fusion allows Intel-based Macs to run x86 and x86-64 "guest" operating systems on Intel-based Macs, such as Windows, Linux, NetWare and Solaris. The new Unity feature creates a seamless desktop environment between Windows XP and Mac OS X applications. It optionally hides Windows' start menu and taskbar and runs the Windows applications directly from the dock in Mac OS X.

VMware Fusion 2.0 will let you to run as many copies of Mac OS X Server on your powerful Mac hardware as you have RAM to support them. Or mix it up with multiple server operating systems running together, like Windows Server 2003, Linux and Mac OS X servers, simultaneously on one machine.
