  • WTD 4.7.8 displays the error "The tablet driver did not load because of an internal driver failure" even on the login window if a tablet is not physically connected to the machine. This requires admins to manage a larger number of customized machines. In computer lab settings it also limits the number of machines that Wacom tablets can be used with, eliminating the ability to check out tablets to users and forcing admins to set up designated "tablet stations".
  • WTD 4.7.9 does not work with LDAP. On login, the error "The tablet driver did not load because of an internal driver failure" is displayed if the account is an LDAP account. The driver works just fine with local accounts on the same machines.
  • WTD 4.7.9 also installs a configuration application, called "Wacom Tablet" as world-writable. Changing permissions on the various files in Wacom Tablet.app from mode 777 and 666 to mode 755 and 644 does not seem to adversely effect the operation of the application.
  • The official word from Wacom is that quality testing is being done on a new, unified driver for their entire product line. A workaround for the time until that is released is to install the 4.7.9 driver and then install the 4.8.5 Intuos3 driver over the top of that.
