Can a single base load be used on different hardware platforms?

For Mac OS X, a loadset built on one machine typically works fine on other models, so long as those model existed when Apple released that version of the OS. In some cases, hardware drivers for optional equipment may not be included on when you install the OS on a machine without the optional hardware, e.g. Super Drive.

We have created loadsets on Power Macintosh (Blue and Whites) and distributed it to many different models including iMacs, Power Macintosh G4s, and iBooks without problems. I would recommend that you minimize issues to build your base load using the installation CD from your latest Mac hardware.
